Vasectomy is simple and effective. There’s no impact on libido or sexual performance. Once the recovery period is complete, there’s no more expense or need for birth control.
Though it’s normal that men or their partners may have questions, the doctors at the Pollock Clinic are very experienced in vasectomy. When you visit from Surrey, you will feel confident knowing our physicians are world renowned experts in the procedure and continue to teach and train other doctors.
Neil Pollock, M.D., founder of Pollock Clinics, has been doing vasectomy and circumcision for decades. Dr. Jack Chang, M.D., is a veteran of multiple No-Scalpel Vasectomy International medical missions. He travels the globe to conduct vasectomies and train international physicians in the technique to offer family planning options to under-served communities.
Though the risk of complications for vasectomy is quite low, every surgical procedure has some risk. But the expertise of the doctors at the Pollock Clinic, combined with our choice of technique, help to reduce the risks and any discomfort during and after the procedure.
No Scalpel Vasectomy
The testicles produce sperm that travel through a tube called the vas deferens. The vas deferens or “vas” continues to travel through the prostate before joining with the vas on the other side to become the urethra, which exits through the penis. The goal in a vasectomy is to block the right and left vas. In a conventional vasectomy, the doctor makes two cuts into the skin and lifts out each tube in turn, cutting and blocking them. Then the doctor stitches the cuts closed.
In a no-scalpel vasectomy, the doctor locates the tubes under the skin and holds them in place with a small clamp. Instead of making two incisions, the doctor makes one tiny puncture with a special instrument. The same instrument is used to gently stretch the opening so the tubes can be reached then blocked. Our procedure is minimally invasive, no stitches or scars.
No Needle Procedure
Even the way we approach anesthesia is designed to reduce patient discomfort or anxiety. This improved no-needle method eliminates the need for freezing the scrotum with a needle. Needles can cause a higher risk of injury to a blood vessel. Instead, a special spray applicator that uses air pressure is employed so that no sharp object enters the scrotum. This method is quicker, safer, less anxiety-provoking and more comfortable for patients.
The procedure is over before you even know it – we’ve done everything we can to minimize any anxiety, pain or discomfort.
We want your experience to be as simple and convenient as possible. Instead of multiple trips to the clinic, our premium comfort and convenience package minimizes the need to travel.
Our initial consultation can be done over the phone and we provide all your post-operative instructions and supplies before your leave the clinic.
You will need some time to heal after the procedure and should restrain from sex or ejaculation for seven days. Typically, over the counter of medication – Tylenol – is all that’s required for pain. You will need to restrain from some activities, but depending on your job, shouldn’t miss much time at work.
You need to remember that vasectomy does not immediately render you sterile.
Though no newly created sperm will be carried through the vas deferens after the procedure, there is existing sperm in your system. Two lab tests are conducted on semen samples to make sure there is no sperm left in the ejaculate.
We provide a list of labs for your convenience. Once the results are confirmed, your vasectomy is complete and you no longer have to be concerned about unwanted pregnancy.
We will explain how you can have those tests done locally and delivered to the Pollock Clinic for review. Once two test results have been confirmed, we’ll contact you and let you know the procedure is completed.
Our physicians and medical staff make it a priority to address your questions, provide supplies and instructions and ensure your comfort.
Vasectomy has no impact on your libido or sexual performance. In fact many men report increased sexual satisfaction once concerns about unwanted pregnancy are removed.
Though all surgeries have some risk, complications related to vasectomy are very low. The techniques practiced by the Pollock Clinics actually helps reduce them by eliminating multiple incisions. Without stitches, there is less itching during the recovery period, which reduces the chance of infection.
