Penile Lengthening Surgery Facts
The most commonly performed penile lengthening surgery is called suspensory ligament release. As its name indicates, it involves the release of all the suspensory ligaments and fungiform ligaments at the base of the penis followed by penile repositioning which bring out as much length on the inside that’s directly available. Releasing the ligament partially frees the penis from its pubic bone attachments, dropping it to a slightly lower position, which may minimally increase penile length or give the illusion of length gain. Most surgeons then make the patient wear penile weights after the surgery.
Penile lengthening surgery is mostly experimental and has a high level of risk. For one, this procedure can slacken the erectile tissues. Moreover, since there is no support for erection, the penis may be unable to achieve penetration. It is also associated with a high incidence of wound breakdown and wide, unsightly scars. So, before thinking of venturing into it, it is best to consult with a well-established surgeon to know the risks involved with the procedure.
