Therapeutic Botox for Erectile Dysfunction
Neuromodulator injections can be an effective treatment for Erectile Dysfunction.
Botox (also known as botulinum neurotoxin) is a neuromodulator produced by the bacterium clostridium A.
Botox works by temporarily relaxing the smooth muscle in the walls of the blood vessels carrying blood to the penis, thereby significantly increasing blood flow. It blocks the nerve impulses sent to the vessel walls, which are normally in a constricted state. After the Botox they are left in a relaxed state with a wider diameter so they are able to carry a greater volume of blood, thereby improving erections.
A limited number of published studies have demonstrated the effectiveness and safety of Botox in the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction (ED).
While our treatments have support from scientific literature, many of them are not yet included in established national treatment protocols, because of the limited number of studies completed.
For your reference, please click here to see details of accepted national treatment protocols from the Canadian Urological Association and the American Urological Association for some of the conditions treated by Pollock Clinics.
Patients are encouraged to review the relevant literature that we have provided with their own family doctor or urologist to support informed decisions on treatment.
Many of our patients have already tried conventional methods and come to Pollock Clinics for an innovative approach. Results will vary, and are not guaranteed.

How Therapeutic Botox Works
A tiny needle is used to administer the Botox into the penis. The clinical impact is that the patient’s erection becomes stronger, harder, and longer lasting. Men can expect to see the effect begin about two weeks after the injection is administered and it lasts for about 4 months. At that time another long lasting injection can be administered.

The Botox Treatment Procedure for ED at Pollock Clinics
Botox works by blocking nerve signals that cause muscle contraction. As a result, the injected muscle will relax and no longer contract.
Neuromodulator injections could be especially effective in those who do not respond well to pharmacological agents such as PDE5Is (Viagra/Cialis) and higher dose Trimix injections.
Once Botox is injected, the effects can last 3-4 months.
