A penile skin bridge sometimes results from an untreated penile adhesion that may occur after a circumcision.
If you had a circumcision as a child that left you with tight or thickened skin on the shaft or tip of your penis, Pollock Clinics may have a solution for your discomfort.
A fast, simple, in-office procedure to remove the skin bridge may fix the problem.
Men and teens travel to our Vancouver area clinics from all over BC, and from out of province, to access private care for skin bridge removal at Pollock Clinics.

Sometimes after circumcision, skin on the shaft of the penis gets stuck near the glans or head. This is called a penile adhesion, and left untreated, an adhesion can develop into a skin bridge.
Though an uncommon complication, an adhesion can occur if too much foreskin is left behind after a circumcision or when fat on the pubis pushes the skin forward toward the glans. Adhesions may cause a discharge to be produced resulting from trapped oils, dirt or skin cells.
Some adhesions can be addressed with topical creams or may even be naturally resolved as erections stretch the skin. But should the skin attach itself permanently near the tip of the head – an area called the coronal margin, it creates a thicker connective tissue called a penile skin bridge.
If you have concerns about penile adhesion or a skin bridge, please don’t hesitate to contact our practice for a consultation. You can see the doctor quickly for a consultation.
Doctor Pollock or Doctor Chang will do an examination and offer their recommendations on the best course of action. If removal of the skin bridge is required, we will set up an appointment for the procedure.
There is minimal bleeding and the incision is closed with a skin glue. No stitches required.
A skin bridge is visible to the eye, as is a penile adhesion. The most common complaint regarding a skin bridge is the sensation of tugging or pulling on the penis during erection. This discomfort can affect arousal and sexual pleasure.
For some men, the issues are more cosmetic. The skin build-up may not be uncomfortable but they are not happy with the appearance of the penis. We see this in other areas of our practice as well, for example, with adult circumcision. It’s not uncommon.
But for other men, the problem is more severe. The skin bridge causes pain during erection and can be worse during intercourse. If too much dirt or oil become trapped, an unpleasant odor can arise. Some men can even lose some sensation if too much of the glans is covered.
Fortunately, the treatment is simple and virtually painless. The procedure for a penile skin bridge removal typically takes less than a half hour. We offer treatment for adolescents and men at our Vancouver and New Westminster locations in BC.
When you arrive at the clinic, we’ll address any question may have. The procedure itself is quite simple. Though men can get understandably nervous, there’s really no cause for worry.
Our practice is devoted to male reproductive health, including no scalpel vasectomy and circumcision for boys, teens and men, as well as circumcision revision.
Prior to the procedure, we will apply a local anesthetic to numb the affected area. The skin bridge will be released with a quick and virtually painless cut that separates the skin from the shaft or glans and relieves the tension.
There is minimal bleeding and the incision is closed with a skin glue. No stitches required.
As with any surgical situation, there is some risk, but for this procedure, it is minimal. It is important that you follow up with your aftercare to avoid any chance of infection. We will make sure you have all the instructions for your recovery period.
Discomfort with appearance, pain or pulling during erection are remedied by the procedure. You don’t have to endure a skin bridge. Just call us to set up a consultation appointment.
